An incredible poster for a girl's field track event in Delco, dating sometime around 1910-1920. The signature on the piece is of Emma Warfield, but little else is known about the artist or the event. According to historian John Lemon, this may be the only surviving poster of its kind from this period of Delco sports history. It's on display now at DCHS. Portrait of Spencer McIlvain by Samuel Bell Waugh (1876). Spencer McIlvain was born in 1803, in what is today known as Ridley, but was also known as Leiperville. McIlvain was employed in the sawmill, tannery, and homestead farm during the life of his father. All of McIlvain's active business life was devoted to farming, grazing beef cattle for the Philadelphia markets, and operating in the extensive quarries on his estate. Here we have an 1851 indenture signed by both John Price Crozer and his wife Sarah, selling a portion of their land to the establish the church, at the time established as the Rockdale Methodist Episcopal Church, later to be renamed as the Crozerville Methodist Church.
